No. We believe part of the fun and adventure of the walk is to find your own way. The coast path is marked by arrows and an acorn symbol, either on marker posts, stone markers, finger posts or, in towns and villages, stickers. We provide Ordnance Survey maps, which you will need to take with you. We have had a tough winter down here, so in parts the path is diverted.
Each day we will provide you with a summary of your day's walk, which will include options for lunch, cream tea and dinner. We will also send you off with some fruit, homemade trail mix and a sandwich - unless you prefer to buy your lunch out.
We will ask whether you want to have dinner at the end of your walk, before we pick you up, or prefer to come back, dress up and go out for the evening. We provide information about local restaurants, and restaurants at the end of your walk, but if you want to go somewhere in particular, let us know. Our pick up service only covers your day's walk, not your evening out. We can give you the phone numbers for our local taxi firms, and most restaurants will call a taxi for you.
PLEASE NOTE that most restaurants will need to be booked in advance, and almost all stop serving food at 8:30pm or 9:00pm.
We don't have a set pick up time. Our latest pick up is around 7:30pm. We will discuss an agreed pick up time with you each day at the start of your walk, based on how long you will be walking, and whether you want to stop at the end for a drink or dinner. If you're not sure, we will suggest a time. Whatever we agree, though, is flexible. We are usually only a 20 or 30 minute drive away, so just keep in touch.
We don’t use them, but there are stretches where your legs may get very tired and you may be glad of them.
We have walked the South West Coast Path from Minehead (the start) to Plymouth. In the last year we have re-walked all of the coast from Portreath to Porthleven as well as much of the Lizard. Due to our proximity to the far west we have walked much of the St Ives to Perranuthno stretch repeatedly (including our 26 mile Midsummer Marathon this summer!). We are familiar with access, timings, terrain and refreshments.
If there are particular attractions you want to visit, we can either build it into your day's walk or plan is as a day off. For local attractions we will still offer drop off and pick up, even if you aren't walking far.
The house itself does not have parking, but there is plenty of free parking on the road. Our blue van, Horace, is usually parked outside, and can be moved if you can’t find a space – just give us a knock.
Unfortunately we can't offer a laundry service. There is a launderette near Penzance Station which offers a same day service wash if dropped off before 12 noon and we can take you on your way to your day's walk.
We ask for a 10% deposit to secure the booking, and full payment one month in advance of your holiday. However, if you need to cancel for any reason we offer a full refund up to 1 week in advance of your holiday. Cancellations within a week of your arrival may result in the loss of your deposit if we cannot re-let the room.
We accept Visa and Mastercard.
